Our initial consultation will focus on assessing your dog's behavior and your goals. We do this within the comfort of your home. An initial consultation usually lasts 1.5 -2 hours.
After Initial Consultation
If you decide to proceed, we will then design a training plan that is tailored for you and your dog. I have found that it's best to complete 3 training sessions within the next 7-10 days to ensure you are practicing correctly and that your dog is responding as desire. We can make any changes along our journey if need be!
Please keep in mind these first three sessions are the beginning for many dogs. Depending on the severity of the problem, additional sessions may be needed. As you and your dog learn together, I can add more time between sessions. Every dog and their family is unique and the rate of achievement varies. Time, consistency of training techniques, and learning to see the world through your dog's perspective will determine the success of the dog's behavior. Remember, I will be teaching you how to train your dog. I want to equip you for success!
Preparing for our First Session
Before our first session, I ask that you purchase a "clicker" and treat pouch. I reccomend that you not use click the clicker around your dog before we meet. This is a very powerful tool and if not used properly, it will lose it's effectiveness with your dog. I will teach you how and why it works. You can find a variety at www.chewy.com.
If your dog is pulling on leash walks, please purchase a front clip "no pull" type harness which is also available on www.chewy.com and in pet stores. Many pet stores will also help you ensure a proper fit. Please call the pet store prior to going to inquire about their most recent protocols.
